IE8 Just Sucks

This is a rant, nothing more, nothing less. IE8 sucks. Slow, buggy and just not a good product. 75%+ websites are NOT renderable, leaving images out, javascript errors and formats all over the place. IE7 is/was a decent product. Not this browser farce. And I find Firefox 3.52 isn't that great either. Both failed to load or render a major UK website. I've added my own graphic. Ugh.
Rant over.

Guns of the South - Review

I read this book for the second time. I last read it about 10 years ago. The cover is what caught my eye. Robert E Lee holding an AK-47 has to pique one's curiosity at least a bit. It was very well paced with decent action and characters. I don't want to say too much, as it would be a plot spoiler. It's written by Harry Turtledove who has shown himself to be a good writer. If you like this, I have to recommend The Videssos Series. They are his first attempt at writing alternative history.

Ah..nice to know the T is increasing fares again. I am quite curious why the Big Dig would sadlle an agency like the T with $6 billion + in debt. Why not the state instead of the T? Number shuffle to say "HEY! The state has no debt". WTH!?!? It's already fun doing my daily origami trying to roll and shove dollar bills into the tiny holes at the commuter rail lot. OR I could try and force the $1 coins in. Now that is fun!

TaxNuts

Why is that whenever a Democratic governor is elected that all the tax-nuts come out? They wait in the wings for the administration to swing back to the Ds and suddenly they are visible. Suddenly, there's a proposal to make drivers pay for the total mileage, another to put a tax on the Canal bridges. Taxes. On bridges that are the only way on or off the peninsula. If this happens, good luck getting tourists. It won't stop all but it will certainly limit the number of people who want to visit.

So, the tax-wing nuts are out. Howie Carr calls it Hackorama, which is certainly true. Now with all the economic and fiscal troubles, TaxNuts are out in force. I can only imagine what's taxable next for decent, hard working people. I am thinking they will tax you on the average volume of air you consume in a given year.

Virtual Herculaneum

Interested in history? I found this on a random Roman history search. Herculaneum, the other famous Roman city swallowed by a volcano.

Start off with the virtual gallery…

Explore the rest of the sight. It's kind of spooky to get an insight into an ancient city, so perfectly preserved. Fascinating at the same time as well.

Governor TaxPatrick

Ah…I knew this was coming. More taxes in Massachusetts! Wow, what a surprise. Taxes will be going up for less services. Remember, Together We Can….Make you pay more!

Mello Sundays

Major sporting events on the weekends are always interesting. They make one's second job MUCH more mellow, since no one is coming to park!
